Parents Shouldn’t Talk to Coach About Playing Time! Or Should they?..
Bull $hit! Parents should be able to speak to the coach about anything concerning their child. Parents deserve insight from the coach’s perspective based on how their child is performing during practice and other athletic activities. How are parents supposed to “parent” their children if they are lacking knowledge? Maybe the child doesn’t act the same way at home. Possibly the student-athlete might have some conflicts going on of which parents and coaches are unaware! Communication between the two parties might provide useful information for the athlete's personal growth and development. Could possibly even save a life!
Proper order of communication needs to be applied. Athletes need to learn how to communicate with authority. I feel it is a good idea for parents to direct their child to speak with the coach first. If the parent has concerns based on the information relayed back to them from their child, they should act upon it. I mean, it is their kid, right? The well-being of the child is ultimately the parent’s responsibility.
