Crack the Kind Whip!
Kids Motivation
How many of us want to remind our children to clean their rooms by putting our boot right up their a$$!! After a full day of work, extra activities, paying bills, and overall adulting, parents and coaches may easily come unglued and lose their temper! Kids are kids and even very well-behaved kids can have moments of laziness, forgetfulness, and distraction! It is easy to forget they are still building life habits! Heck, aren’t we all still building life habits? Life is changing directions and new challenges blast us in the face harder than a Mike Tyson uppercut! These uppercuts affect our patience and overall self-awareness. This happens to many parents for a variety of reasons! We all have “stuff” This “stuff” can take over our minds! It’s like this uppercut puts us in a cloudy but focused haze! Our focus is 90% on the “stuff” while we let our kids and athletes coast on everyday routines. Until that routine is broken! Then SNAP — a stiff jab woke you up out of the haze and you realize you are in a fight! Your kids stepped out of their routine! Bedrooms are not clean, and homework isn’t finished! Athletes are showing up unprepared and unfocused! What is our first instinct? Make them Pay! Punishment!
